    Our documentary “Midsummer Night’s Tango” has been awarded with the Special Award of the Jury at the Millenium Documentary Film Festival 2014. Director Viviane Blumenschein accompanies three Argentinian musicians to Finland to find out if it is true that the Tango was born there. The Millenium Documentary Film Festival is an annual event which takes place in Brussels and shows films that tell us about the important issues and goals of the 21st century, a changing world which has an impact on many of our values and lifestyles.

    We proudly announce that our production “Nelson Mandela: the myth and me” will have it’s Sweden premiere at the Stockholm International Film Festival on April 7th. Two further screenings will take place on 10th and 11th of April.
    In it’s awarded documentary director Khalo Matabane talks to Mandela’s entourage, Apartheid-victims, global thinkers and politicians about life, work and myth of South Africa’s first president.

    The gebrueder beetz filmproduktion attaches great importance to crossmedia and so does the Medieninnovationszentrum Babelsberg. They have called for MIZ format Festival and producer Christian Beetz is part of the jury. Since February young talents in journalism, crossmedia, screenwriting, development and production media were invited to submit innovative cross- and transmedia projects. More than 80 projects were submitted. At the Kick-off Day on 3 April 2014, the ten best projects outlines pitch in front of the jury. After a conception phase from April to June, the finals public event will be held in July. In addition to two scholarships the participants can win prize of 10,000 euros. The jury is a collective of creative minds from radio or television – broadcasting representatives, format developer and producers such as Christian Beetz:

    “The Colours of China” is an extraordinary trip through China – structured by the century-old mythology of the colours. According to a Chinese legend, five colours dominate the earth – yellow, cyan, red, white and black. These five colours structure our journey through the world’s most fascinating country. They provide us with a unique access to the geography, culture and, above all, to the lives of the Chinese.

    World Premiere “Before the Last Curtain Falls” at HOT DOCS!

    We are proud to announce that our feature length documentary “Before the last Curtain falls” will have its world premiere on April 28th 2014, 8.30 p.m. at the HOT DOCS film festival in Toronto, Canada! The film is a German-Belgian co-production by Gebrueder Beetz filmproduction with Savage Film, Belgium, ZDF and Canvas in collaboration with arte and Telenet/Prime. The film, directed by German-Canadian filmmaker Thomas Wallner dives deeply into the exceptional and heart-warming stories of a group of transsexuals and drag queens in their sixties and seventies, who summon up their bravery to take to the stage one last time.

    “Before The Last Curatin Falls” will also be screened 29th April, 4 p.m. and 2nd May 12:30 p.m. As if that isn’t good enough, also our production “Nelson Mandela: The Myth and Me” by Khalo Matabane will be screened. In the documentary he reflects on Mandelas work without calling him a hero.

    Since March 13th, the movie is shown in cinemas all over Germany and after the premiere tour was already nearly sold out, we are even more happy that “Midsummer Night Tango” has reached the 10,000 spectators-mark after the first weekend. The positive response, applause after the screenings and enthusiastic press, promise further “numerous exciting encounters, quirky guys, magical images of nature and unifying, passionate music.” (- Filmdienst)

Director Alice Agneskirchner confronted herself and three young Israelis with their German-Jewish past and created a film with a very surprising and unexpected ending. Founded in 1985, the International Documentary Film Festival Munich has the declared goal to offer a festival for the audience with an emphasis on the promotion of creative documentary films.
