“Empire Me – Be Your Nation!” is a cross-media project containing a documentary and social web format. Departing from the would-be “dream society” within each of us, we embark on a journey to people who have turned their dreams into reality by creating colourful and diverse micronations.

Our web format “Empire Me.net – Be Your Nation!” picks up on this topic where the film ends: Micronations and alternate life designs are not only a subcultural and marginal phenomenon, but a global one; they are a way of revolting against predominant systems and of living our very own utopias in reality.

The initial question inquires about the shape of the user’s ideal world. You don’t like your nation? You are unhappy with the local and global structures that surround you, along with their values and goals? Then let us know about your utopian nation, and we tell you where it is.

The focus of this project is our provocative, playful and emotional web platform. We send the user on a journey through utopian mind games in the form of sets of questions on the topics of lifestyle, governmental styles and love life.
The journey commences with questions. Film material and background information are used to make the transition from a fictitious, theoretical approach into real, world scenery.

You thought the world as you imagine it doesn’t exist? Well think again, because we have 1, 2 or even 3 micronations that fit your description as based on the answers to your question sets. And should you be utterly convinced, go ahead and become a fan! Invite your Facebook friends to share your vision of a better tomorrow for all of you!

The appeal of the site is the ability of the user to compare his personal likes and dislikes with multiple versions of an existing reality and share and discuss them within their communities.
