An iconic series celebrating the biological diversity and geographic splendour of one of the world’s most unique countries. Isolated from the world for 100 million years New Zealand became the ultimate storehouse for discontinued zoological models. It is home to a unique collection of exotic plants, geological wonders and often bizarre animal species Guided by scientists and adventurers, Modern Dinosaurs explores New Zealand’s unique wildlife set amidst the iconic landscapes of one of the world’s most remarkable habitats.

The series tunnels into the earth, explores the unknown and plunges into the ocean depths to discover weird and wonderful creatures. This is the new world of science out in the field, up a river, underwater, beneath the earth or in the depths of a rainforest. We follow people who work in extreme environments. They are the vehicles to the science we explore. Episodes are themed, but centre around different human characters – a passionate scientist, an adventurer or a team of experts on the edge of a new discovery. It is the story of scientific passion, hard work, physical challenge and arduous conditions; and of triumph and success as well as failure.

The cinematography will be outstanding, working both ends of the lens – macro and micro and originating @ 4k. Beautiful shots featuring iconic New Zealand landscapes, alongside images of the country’s bizarre and fascinating animal species. These will be the episodes:

A LIVING DINOSAUR – The Tuatara
RIVER MONSTERS – Freshwater Eels
NIGHT PROWLERS – Bats & Moths
WINGS BUT CAN’T FLY – A bizarre kingdom of birds
SPINELESS GIANTS – Dinosaur Insects, Carnivorous Snails & Huge Worms
